Compaq M2305NR
Im trying to take apart my laptop to get to the motherboard.
Ive got the covers off the ram, hard drive and wireless card.
The ram, hard drive and wireless card are removed.
The 20 or so screws on the bottom cover are out.
Ive found a few mechanical snaps,
but i still cant get the bottom cover off. It seems to have
some more things holding it in the central area of the bottom cover.
Any tips out there?
thanks for your time

When I last tried to do this on a laptop, there were some screws hidden underneath stickers on the base.
Obviously in removing the stickers your warranty will void (thus the reason for them being there). -
thanks for the thought.
the only stickers on the bottom are the XP COA
and a small service tag. I can lift the corner in that area
and see that there are no screws under the 2 stickers.
thanks tho.
anyone else have a clue? -
Check under the battery and on the edges -
there were 5 screws under the battery. I already have them removed.
The edges all the way around will lift up. There are no more screws.
Ive looked at this for hours. There is something holding it near the
central area. Are there snaps in the central area or something?
I hate to pull up too hard.
thanks -
You could work down from the top - have you got the keyboard out? Maybe at least it'll give you some clues. I recall on my old Compaq one could prize out the speakers near the hinges and get the keyboard out.
My experience tells me that force is always a bad idea in the case of disassembling items so keep hunting! -
thanks httk, yep, i found a service manual, which basically said to work from the top. I removed the keyboard cover, led board and now the keyboard.
my bad.
thanks again
