i remember some suggestions other than speedfan which i remember people calling inaccurate. can anyone remind me what are the better temperature reading programs?

Intel TAT (Thermal Analysis Tool) is very good, but it only works on Core Duos and later (no AMD support at all)

HWMonitor could be another one...

HWMonitor is by far the best and most accurate as well.

HWMonitor is definitely the best.

Don't forget about RMCLOCK.
Monitor your battery too! -
I only use the RMclock temps now. I still use HWMonitor to check my max/peak temps
temperature program.
