3 screws come off in 2 seconds.

4th and 5th not doing it.

after 10minutes at them the 5th screw is out.

its been like 30minutes now trying to get the 4th screw off. Any more attempts the screw won't work anymore. Its already deformed.

this is the longest and most painful ram upgrade ever. . Btw same screw driver for all. Terrible.

idk what to do except stare at the deformed 4th screw..

    have a nice day

    ....that sucks man.

sounds like a couple of your screws were stripped when they put them in.

Use a pair of toothed pliers to grab the side of the screw if possible

tried that with pliers alone, pliers and rubber band , pliers and tissue but won't hold it, its too small. Its brute force now, scraping the screw to make edges.. Awesome Monday night labor, can't complain :)

    SUCCESS

[IMG] right: normal screw, left: had to scrape an edge on top of the screw so I can chisel it around to unscrew LOL

    [IMG] beat up the door

    [IMG] beat up the body

Oh well, its inside the notebook and worth 8gb ram

BTW, where do I buy a screw like the ones in the envy on the door for the ram??

Try eBay. Not sure what the proper sizes are. I got a couple of door replacement screws from there a year ago, but i don't remember the sizes. The seller just gave me 5 different types, 2 of each to make sure I'd get the ones I wanted for a couple of bucks.

Actually, just looking to upgrade the ram.
Did you get the 1st gen Envy? What type of ram would I need to get for it. I was hoping to jump from 4-8. It does only have 2 dimm slots right?
Also, is the ram screwed into the MB, or are the screws you are having trouble with on the body?

HP uses low grade screws- A few of the ENVY14s came with factory stripped screws.
