what is the new infinity display? what is the difference between the regular display (brightview?) and the infinity display?

also, what chipset is it running? (intel version)
    sata driver?

i noticed that there are/were some great coupons from hp.com on these new laptops

    :)

i already saw a thread where people installed XP on it... so good to know that these laptops are XP friendly

I think the infinity display is not having a surrounding panel.

You know the thin black frame around an LCD display's glass - the frame that serves as the 'edge of the screen'? In the infinity display, there is no frame, so the glass extends all the way to the case. In my opinion, it wasn't worth the extra money as it's simply cosmetic and I have trouble noticing that the black frame is there considering that the casing is a glossy black as well. But if you're one for aesthetics, then you'll probably want to go with the infinity display.

Infinity should be available with brightview as well, just so you know. In fact, I don't think any of the dv models are available without brightview; but I may be mistaken. So my apologies if I am wrong. The brightview is... Like staring into the sun if you're online or in word processors. The super-bright backlight is killer when viewing white. However, it is amazing when it comes to watching movies and playing games. Even on lower brightness settings, I've found that my monitor at "0% brightness" is still brighter than other non-brightview monitors I've seen at medium (and some at brightest) settings.

The downside: glossy screens. Don't expect to be in a lighted room and not feel like you're viewing your computer's display in a mirror when encountering large patches of darker colors. It's a pain in the rear, but you get used to it rather quickly. At least, I got used to it within the first week and a half. But I can't use my screen on the brightest setting without my eyes hurting.
