    claims:
    - F.13 bios will support XP
    - F.13 bios does NOT support penryn core chips - found this out the hard way

i have to run XP to have my key application (avid film editor) work & of course in general vista is the worst thing MS has done to us for quite a while.

so it seems to me the options are:
(- hp releases a new bios for xp)
    - what about taking a bios off of some of the other similar laps - to my understanding the 2k 6k 9k series are almost the same, save for the screen size. anybody tried this?
    - modifying the bios - essentially merging the ACPI support for XP from F.13 to some later version bios that does have penryn support; per someone's post here that's F.21 on...

any thoughts? who has the know how/cajones to mod the bios - i know that hacked bioses are out there, mainly to add support to 3rd party wifi cards.

anybody try a bios from another model?

    cheers.
