SEC screen for a dv2000t is not tolerable according to what I learnt.

So, if I do get a dim and pale SEC (Samsung) screen and return, and then get another one with SEC again. How many times can I return it till I get a better screen?

I've never seen a screen on a new laptop that was intolerably dim.

Perhaps you might want to specify a certain screen instead of causing the company grief and loss of profit, which in turn gets passed onto the consumer eventually.

The SEC's arent too bad, i have used it alongside a QDS & LPL. Sure it wasnt the brightest but still it was quite bright there wont be any usability issues. So, just dont return it because most people exaggerate when reporting such issues. As for as how many times you can return a laptop, there isnt any limit but if they find out that you have returned one too many they will bar you from ordering from them again.

I have definitely heard of bans happening like miner mentioned above. Also, if they don't deem your reason for return worthy of a return/exchange--they will stick you with a restocking fee (usually 15% ;).

I hate the hassle to return a machine but meanwhile I dread the poor display quality. (I had a Samsung CTR monitor and it is definitely dim).

So far from what I heard, hp offers 21 day no-questions-asked return policy. Just speaking from a pure theoretical perspective, consumers can return as many times as they want right?

There is no set limit. You can probably safely return it 2 or 3 times but if you do it 5 or 6 times then it might be considered abuse of the system and they might ban you from ordering from them again.

I believe the story that's freshest in my mind is a guy who returned a notebook twice and they asked him never to buy another HP notebook again.

If it's that big of an issue for you, you could always buy a preconfigured system from a retailer so that you can see it in person. Or you could go with another system altogether.

I wouldn't worry about it though.
