i have been experiencing a lot of software problems with this notebook. i was just wondering how the return process works with hp pavilions. how would i ship it back

Call HP and ask.
They would be the best to ask in this case. I believe they have a restocking fee, and returns are only allowed in the first 30 days (or is it 21?).
Good luck. -
Returns are in the first 21 days. That's what I was told on the website and over the phone when ordering my new HP.

why would you want to return it?
just do a fresh install of vista and start again -

i have dv4t here
the only problem annoyed me is the quicktouch button
wireless and mute button just seems so weird, sometimes they just decide to have a day off from work.
software is alright. all i uninstalled is norton pack, ms office trail
good luck in returning. -
i was using the laptop late last night and for some reason the quick touch buttons were unresponsive. none of the buttons did anything. plus the battery didn't charge for some reason. this morning i get up everything seems to work fine now. so weird.

My DV4T's battery stopped charging yesterday too. It was stuck at 3% and said it wasnt charging. I turned it off, took off the battery and now it says it's at 0% and not charging. I ran the HP battery check and it says to call support. My wireless light has been orange all weekend as well and none of my media buttons arent working.
I have a Lenovo U330 on order and was gonna use this to see how it goes and this weekend pretty much sealed the deal that I will send it back.
I called HP customer service this morning an told the CSR I wanted to return it and I explained these issues and that the laptop runs a bit too warm. The CSR says, would I consider keeping it for a $70. I tell her, it's not even working right, I don't want to keep it so she asks me if I want to exchange it and I tell her I'd rather not. She puts me on hold, sets up an RMA that was sent to my email. I was on the phone for 8 minutes and 38 seconds. It was pretty painless.
Let us know how you turn out.

First, call HP. If you hear some weird music for a long time and think it takes too much time to be connected to an HP representative, simply hang up and call HP again. Everything (how smooth the return process is) depends on who your HP representative is. If the person is nice, he or she will just ask why you want to return your product and whether you want to exchange it with another one. Then, an RMA will be given as soon as the representative says "Check your e-mail". (It may take a few minutes for an RMA to be sent) Somtimes, the person will try to connect you to a technician. Tell the person that you don't want to speak with a technician or you have already talked with other technicians. (Talking with technicians is a waste of time when you want to return your product.)
Most parts of the process shouldn't take much time, but be prepared to wait for some time when the representative is working on your return request.
Also, before calling HP, have your serial number, product number, home address, and phone number with you in order to help the person varify your information.
After you receive your RMA, go to the FedEx website and log in with the ID and password given in the e-mail. Write down or save the tracking number somewhere. Print out the label. If you have your personal information saved in you dv4t, re-install Windows or use your recovery disks to set everything to the factory settings. (But, the recovery process takes A LOT of time!) Put everything back to the original box. Remove any label on the box that might confuse FedEx. Put your printed label on the box. Use a plastic back or tape to protect the whole surface of the label from water or other things. Although the RMA # is provided on the label, make sure you write down the RMA # on the box to help any FedEx worker read it easily. Return your box to any local FedEx facility that accepts return products. Return your product as soon as possible. After a few days, HP wil refund the money you paid for your dv4t if you're returning your product or the difference in price if you're exchange it with another product. -
what if i also ordered extended warranty. how would i ship the warranty package back?
-
Contact HP. Ask the person you'll talk to.
You should be able to get a refund for that with no problem. I'm not sure how you should ship the warranty package.
thinking about returning my dv4t
