hi everyone. i bought a compaq presario v5000 laptop recently and i LOVE it!! i love the portability. the only thing i dont like is the battery life but eh it works anyway. my question is that i wanna upgrade the cpu a little bit. is it easy to overclock it a bit or easier to just get a new one and replace??

Avoid overclocking if you can- notebook cooling systems are very tightly designed to a specific temperature range. To clock it up enough to see a real increase you would get very close to the heat removal capacity of the CPU cooler.

What kind of processor is in it now? Odds are that it's probably not worth upgrading. You should either save your money for the next computer/order pizza or use the cash to get more memory.

Get the HP service guide (Manuals link on the left-hand side of the HP downloads page for your notebook) and it'll tell you how to swap CPUs. Once you see how it's done you'll probably decide against it. eWiz.com stocks some of the more interesting Turions, I was debating buying a ML42 from them but decided to switch to the dv9000z series instead.
