I have a dv2500t with 8400GS, 2.2ghz c2d and 2gb of ram.
I can't plays x264 media files smoothly. Though it works fine on my vostro 1500 with 8600gt and 1.6ghz and 1gb of ram.
is the 8400gs that bad of a card? or is VIsta not doing it right.
I've tried Vista codec pack and Combined Community codec pac (CCCP). I've used CCCP on the vostro and desktop with NO problems.
And Ideas? The laptop is useless to me if i can't play x264 media.

In the first thread that was deleted, you were asking for help with RIPPED movies files. We can't help you with that.

You mean H.264 videos? Like the 720p version of Diggnation?
You should have enough firepower for that... well, 1.6GHz is a bit on the low side but it should still be doable assuming your player is multithreaded (can use both CPU cores at once). I'd check Task Manager for stray processes chewing up CPU time and see if you're running short on RAM. -
