I have a HP DV2000 (BIOs states it is a 2500) that I am trying to install XP over vista. I have gone into the bios to disable the SATA but there is no option to do so. I do have a external floppy to use. I thought I was computer savy but am feeling kinda dumb. Should I start with a flash? What model am I actually working on, 2000 or 2500. thanks for your time.

The exact model # should be on the bottom on a sticker. Looks like a 2000 series, your model must start with a 2 then.
Is this XP with SP1, it has sata drivers, no need for floppy.

I installed XP with this guide on my dv9535nr, it says it's had mixed results, which could be from user error, for the 2000 series. You have to slipstream in SP2 and the SATA drivers using nlite and from there use the driver pack from this post. What chipset do you have? Good luck.
