    trying to save some money on a dv1000t

    what i wanna do is order my dv1000t with xp home and use my own copy of xp pro to install.
    my question is what do i need to do to get the drivers and everything to work right?
    also i want to order the ram from another store what kind do i need? do you think you can send me a link?

    you can find all the drivers online or you can order a driver CD for 10 bucks. What I would do however, is just burn a DVD with the recovery partition, which HP creates. It contains the windows installation and drivers. The drivers for XP home and XP Pro are identical.

    As for the RAM, you need DDR2 200 pin So-dimm, upto 667mhz. Look at these links (I've highlighted DV1000T and RAM):

    Unless you have a specific need like logging into a NT Domain Controller at school or work, I think you'll do fine with home.
