    turn off the illuminated HP logo?

    I hate the HP logo on the lid that is lit up. Anyone know of a way to turn it off? Its not lit by the LCD backlight since it stays on when the lid id closed and the screen is off.

    As far as I know there is no way to turn it off through software. Your best bet is to either cover it or remove the power to the light powering it.

    I really dont want to take this screen apart just for a light... It does p!$$ me off I might add. but I dont know if it bugs me enough to tear it down... Hmmmm

    Does it still stay lit when you close the laptop and it is running on battery?

    yes the logo stays lit when running and the lid is closed. The only time its off (other than when the computer has been shut down) is when its in Sleep or Hibernation. Without a doubt it has a separate light source than the LCD.
