Hi everyone, I'm new here and I have a question.
I want to do a complete wipe of my OS and re-install it. I bought my tx1000 from Circuit City and was looking for a vista disk, but it didn't come with any. I have Vista Home Premium. If I want to use my work's disk, is that possible? It's also Vista Home Premium. And if I do this, will the touchscreen capabilities still work? I'm afraid to wipe my tablet's OS and then not have any touchscreen...
thanks for all the help!

yes it should still work, or you might just need to install drivers from the HP website.
If all else somehow fails, make sure you have the recovery disks at hand so you can return the notebook to factory state -
the thing is, my computer didn't come with recovery disks. it has them stored as a separate partition on my hard drive.
is the touchscreen capability just a driver that i have to reinstall then? -
You have to create the Recovery disks yourself. Look for something called "recovery manager" or recovery disk creator.
As for the touchscreen, Vista itself that handles all the tablet pc features since i cant see any drivers for it on the website. So once you install Vista, all those features will be enabled. -
Yes, definitely create the recovery disks, because you never know when you're going to need them. As flipfire stated, Vista includes the touchscreen drivers and software, the only thing you'll need to do is install all the third party software and drivers.

Take a look at my clean install guide (in my sig) for information on clean installing, as well as backing up your activation. Vista does have the touch-screen stuff built-in, afaik, so you just need to make sure you have the drivers for it. They can be downloaded from HP if necessary.

from my own personal experience when you do a clean install and install the drivers you still will never be able to get the screen to calibrate perfectly. I tried formating and installing vista 3 times and could never get it to calibrate as good as i could when i had all the hp crap installed on it which is one of the reasons i got rid of the laptop. I would def make sure and create the recovery disks so that you can go back if your not happy with the touchscreen after formatting.

I've never had any problems calibrating the screen, it always comes up perfect no matter how many times I do a clean install.
tx1000 complete wipe - will touchscreen still work?
