I finally dumped the default installation because I just couldn't figure out how to disable and uninstall all the junk hp put on it. the computer came with a warning not to do that but I just couldn't take it anymore. I reinstalled vista ultimate and everything seems to work, but the pen input is very strange. Is there some calibration or driver I need to install to make the pen work like it did with the hp install?

Have you tried to tweak "tablet computing" under control panel? Did you save the "SWSetup" directory before you did a clean install?

No, I didn't save any directory. I did go into table computing in CP and did the calibrate. It just feels really "Jerky" when I drag the pen around. I did not play with it much before, but it's hard to believe this is suppose to be how it acts. when I try and draw a line with any speed, it has lots of drop outs. when I try to use the vista clipit program, I can't even do a lasoo around anything because the line stops drawing in the middle.
