I was wondering if the tx12xx are any good. I really got burned on my dv8130, well it never had the keyboard problem but volume just isnt there for 9lb 17 " laptop. I also have problems with usb devices not showing up, especially cellphone modems.

I have a tx1120us which is pretty much the same as tx12xx. I have the touchscreen version and I would not get this option. You really have to press hard on the touchscreen. Save your money and not get the touchscreen option. It's a nice little notebook, fast enough and I don't have issues.
USB works fine. I have Fusion USB HDTV tuner and it works well with Vista Media Center Edition.

its a tx1210 to be exact, doesnt have the touchscreen, I was wondering if that was worth getting but I see you are not a fan of that option.

I like the touchscreen myself. It really helps when in tablet mode to just point at a given link. Once you train to write it's actually very good in writing recognition. And don't forget if you have Vista you can also use the speech/voice command option to navigate Windows. Very very handy when using Word.

Is the TX12xx with the touchscreen any good for drawing like Photoshop?

I doubt it unless you have strong hands or fingers by pressing the touchscreen hard all the time while drawing.
tx12xx any good?
