Hi,
I have an HP Pavilion tx2510 that's been having some issues.
A. The computer makes a LOT of noise - its impossible to use in class anymore...
B. The computer heats up very quickly, and it gets VERY hot. I burned myself when I picked it up near the fan.
I haven't been running any large programs; normally, I'll be running a few tabs in Chrome, Word, and iTunes.
I'm running Windows 7 32-bit on 3 GB RAM and a 2.1 GHz AMD processor.
Is there any hardware/software fix that anyone can suggest? Will buying a fan/cooling station work (if so, any recommendations)?
Thanks!

Perhaps your heatsink looks like that inside too?

That's from dv6000 -series, as are other pictures there too. I took a few to show my friend what condition her laptops were.
I cleaned the dustballs away, applied new thermal paste and undervolted both laptops a little with RMClock. Resulting with CPU temp roughly 45C, outblowing air only mildly warm. -
I have a TX2500. What I did was to undervolt it. Cooled things down nicely.
Also cleaning out the dust as KLF suggests, will do wonders.
If you want to take it a step more, changing thermal paste to Arctic Ceramique will also help.
Lastly, in your power plan profile on batt, set CPU max (max processor state) to 75%.
All these things combined, I stay under 50 Deg C on batt, under 60 DegC on AC. That's with Onenote, web browsing, Word, pics, etc.
Also, not only running cooler, but undervolting increases battery life.
