Having the same problem here. The nLite SP3 slip and subsequent driver installs i did worked fine except for this. I also have a yellow question mark 'PCI Device' listed.

Cooincidentally, no soundcard or modem is listed in my device mgr.

It seems that components such as audio are dependent on the chipset (driver). I slipped the Intel Mobile ICH8M-E/M driver and then installed the Intel Matrix driver and the system runs fine, but perhaps these are not compatible with the soundcard & modem.. ?

any help would be most appreciated !

Hmm, I had this problem. I think the PCI device is the RealTek HD Audio device. I first downloaded the new 1.84 realtek driver from their website and I clicked on "update driver". I let Xp automatically detect the driver and it worked :-/.

    Hi all--
I'm about to get the same computer and will be downgrading to XP. I'm curious whether there were any issues unique to this model or its components, and in particular whether you had to do anything different because of the two hard drives. Of course any links you'd like to pass on (to drivers or further info) would be great, but my main question has to do with the dual drives.
Thanks, and glad to know that this model can indeed be downgraded.

I got everything, seems that you need bioscrypt verisoft software for the fingerprint reader

i posted a screenshot of my driver config at http://www.whatsound.net/temp/

hopefully this will help a bit; i know it's not a roadmap.

the numbers in the folder names are just my way of ordering the driver installation. certain ones are picky about order (UAA before audio driver) but for most of the later drivers it doesn't really matter.

i have everything working on my system under XP SP3 except i have an unknown device (yellow exclamation) and i have no idea what that is. i've looked into the deep system details about it, run searches, and haven't found the answer.

audio works fine. my blue-LED volume controls on the laptop itself also work. many of the remote control buttons work also (some only work under Vista i believe).

if you need any of these drivers and searching doesn't help, lmk.

it would be too many MB to upload. most of my drivers are from the 1.10 driver pack anyway, so start from there. then search google for the SP##### or the text name of the driver names not in the 1.10, as listed in the screenshot list of my drivers posted at http://www.whatsound.net/temp/

    also:

    - you can get a different video driver if you want at http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
Use their modded INF drivers (many driver versions will work; i am happy with 169.04 because it is overclockable with the ATItool software)

    - find & install the microsoft dot net 2.0 fix

    - SOUND DRIVER: install microsoft UAA before installing sound driver, which is the Realtek R184, then update the hp integrated module driver from within dvc mgr.

    - fingerprint reader:
    driver:
    http://www.alphadownloads.com/downl...n-tec-fingerprint-driver-version--d-3079.html

    sfwe:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...item=ob-49006-1&printable=yes&encodeUrl=true&

As i've said, i still have an unknown device in my dvc mgr (ACPI\HPQ0007\2&DABA3FF&0" ) but everything on my machine seems to work fine so i'm not complaining. If anyone solves this one, please PM me. good luck!!
