thanks for all your post.
I did all the steps you mention to overclock the 512 8600m GS:
rivatuner - 169.09 drivers - all showing up
still I get a default set up 500/400/100
Does it need a 8600m GS bios upgrade?
Vista Premium SP1/hp dv9700t T9300/17.0" WUXGA/2GB ram -
no, u don't need the bios upgrade.
it hasn't fully taken the new video driver.
what is the date on the video card itself....in device manager
mine says driver date 11/12/2007 -
i just tried with 174.51 and 169.09. the OC settings wont stick. It just keeps resetting. Its weird how some people can overclock with drivers that other people cant.
I used drivesweeper aswell to clear the drivers... -

Brand doesnt matter as they all nearly perform the same. Worry more about the price. I dont think newegg's configurator is set up properly. All you need to know this "2x2gb PC2-5300 667mhz 200pin laptop RAM"

Johnksss,
What date are you referring to? The driver date? I have version 169.04 installed from LaptopVideo2Go and the date for the driver is 10/28/2007.
What version of driver are you running? I'm guessing 169.09 based on the date, but would like to make sure. -

try 169.04. -
Didnt u say 169.09 works?
Im going straight to 174.31 . Apparently it works fine with the latest riva tuner. Probably do it tomorow when i have time -
it worked for me, but it's up in the air between 169.04 and 169.09
174.31 didn't work for me...but will try it again in a few minutes. -
johnkss my version is the 09. There is a tab I can select to run the settting at start up. Every time you start the machine you must allow the program to run. The window rating does not rise however. -
i just reinstalled 09 and now it's stuck on a 498/400/1000 clock. lol...damn shame! 2d overclocked but 3d doesn't want to move.

This is crazy..
I will try 169.04 today..
nothing is impossible let's keep trying
let's overclock that underclock 8600m GS... -
but, you must first uninstall old driver, then in stall this one. -
Thanks I will use "driver swepper" to clean up
I will post back.. -
Is HP part# 412766-002 correct for the Bluetooth module? I have an Intel 4965 A/G/N wireless card. Am I able to install the internal bluetooth module? Can the bluetooth module be installed in any DV9700T, or do some of them have motherboards that do not support it?
upgrading a dv9700t
