    Hi There,

    I have an hp pavilion dv7-3188cl and was wondering if I can upgrade the video card? right now I have the geforce G105m video card.any help is greatly appreciated..Thanks in Advance..

    HP usually posts their service manual online; it usually includes a motherboard layout. I would look in the service manual to find out if the gpu is soldered to the motherboard (not really replaceable) or if it is a removable package (possibly replaceable, assuming you want to deal with cooling and all that.

    I'm not familiar with the 105m, but my guess is that because it is a gt105m, it is probably a low powered gpu (based on the 05 of the numbering) and thus probably soldered to the motherboard.

    Also, even if you can upgrade, you might not want to bother. What's the rest of the system like? Nehalem era dual core?

    All the Pavilions have gpus soldered to the motherboard.
