I have a ze5475ca laptop and sometimes it doesn't respond from a stand by. It doesn't happen all the time but it does happen occasionally, when it does, I am forced to use the power button to turn the laptop off/on. According to a BIOS update here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?product=331679&cc=us&lc=en&tool=softwareCategory&dlc=en&os=228 the update will fix the problem.

The only thing that I'm worried about is that I'm usually hesitant about this kind of thing, I don't upgrade things unless things are broken which they are in this case. I was curious to know which method of upgrading any of you guys can suggest [it's got windows-based and boot-disk] to use. I'm sure you guys have more experience with updating BIOS than I do. I would appreciate any input towards this topic. Thank you

I'd go with the Windows Based update. I've done BIOS updates on an HP Compaq NX7000 computer before and the Windows method worked flawlessly. No need to boot (no floppy drive on this unit). Just download, extract and run, when complete, just needs a shut down and you're set.
