Well, sine I am going to do the processor upgrade getting it up to 2+ with 800mhz bus I will have to have some ram to match it :)

But ram is something I do not have too much knowledge about, what is the best ram I can put in my dv9535nr?

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...10&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3439698&lang=en

I plan on doing 4GB of ram even though HP says max 2 I have found by posts here people have succsessfully installed 4GB with an upgrade to vista64.

I found this but dont know is it just cheap crap or a good solid piece of hardware?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=220371088426

and most importantly will it fit?

If you know of what I should search for for good speed and quality please let me know.

Thanks for all the help here everyone! :)

Yeah, that RAM should work but newegg has much better choice for the same price and you get branded memory rather than no name ones...
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...0525 1309221140 1309121118&name=4GB (2 x 2GB)

Also, note that your laptop has a 965 series chipset which means it can only run memory up to DDR2 667. Even though you can use DDR2 800 memory it will downlock to DDR2 667 speeds. So, if you can find DDR2 667 memory cheaper go for that instead of the DDR2 800 memory. As long as the memory is listed as 200 pin DDR2 SODIMM, it should work in your laptop.

But I plan on upgrading to T9300 cpu which is 800mhz, but will that not matter?

I thought if I upgraded to the T9300 which had a 800mhz bus that it would utilize the 800 ram fully.

    Please explain :(

Thanks for the reply and time :)

i found this info on the site:
    http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=27730

    http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/chipsets/p965/p965-overview.htm

But I dont know what to think, it says there supports cpu core 2 duo up to 1066mhz but I have been told here that 1066 will not work on my laptop that the most I can get is the 800mhz CPU. which is true according to what I have read on user trials.

I would love to get a 1066 cpu but that is impossible but at intel says it will support.

Will the cpu bus upgrade not help the ram utilization? This sucks :p

This is making me very confused! lol

well sir, thank you for the link. I will look for 667 since there is no point in the 800 :)

What would be the best Brand to look for?

I usually prefer Crucial but I have used Gskill, Kingston RAM before. Generally speaking any brand should work fine since they are all built to spec but since the good brands dont cost appreciably more than the no name ones you might as well get one of the branded ones.

BTW, the link you earlier posted was for the desktop variants, the link for the mobile variant ...

I guess they meant other hardware (typically older hardware or hardware from companies who are no longer around). In such cases you might not be able to obtain necessary x64 drivers. Also VPN and few other software havent updated to support 64bit yet. But other than that the hardware on the dv9535 shouldnt have any problems running Vista 64 bit.

I agree with miner, I've used Vista 64bit for over a year on my DV9500T.
