I have 1 GB (2 pieces of 512MB) 667MHz memory in my notebook presently. I would like to upgrade to 2GB (2 pieces of 1GB).

I read around and found out that HP notebook are quite picky on the RAM modules used.

How should I select the correct and 100% compatible modules?

HP's AMD notebooks are quite picky, the Intel ones generally have much less issues with RAM (and I don't say it as a compliment to Intel as their memory controllers are kind of ancient).
Whatever you pick, use Memtest86+ or Prime95 to test your memory for a few hours! Check Newegg for some good online deals.
