ok, I will have two modules from ASUS (2x512) and I would like to ask you guys if I can add them into my old HP compaq nx9005. the thing is that the old nx9005 only supports DDR PC2300 and PC2700 (as I found out... www.crucial.com) but the moduls that are in the Asus are probably DDR2 PC2-4200 or PC2-5300..... are these completely different or can I put them into the old hp? I have no other use for them so I would rather use them than to leave them in my drawer...thank you

you can't use them

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
The slots on the bottom of the DDR and DDR2 sticks are in different locations, if I recall correctly - as a result the sticks are incompatible and not interchangeable. Even if they did fit, the way the memory works would not function correctly with the motherboard. If you want to upgrade your RAM in the Compaq, you'll have to buy new DDR.
