I just took apart my notebook, and was looking at my pci express mini card for my wireless. It is supposed to only be 802.11b/g. I am planning on getting a wireless N router for my home, and might upgrade my card on my dv9310us. The card I have now only uses two antennas, and the cards for "n" usiually have 3. Is that an issue? (I assume it would be.)

Yes and also the fact that HP has a whitelist on compatible wifi cards. Essentially unless you buy the card from HP or hack the bios, the system will refuse to boot with the aftermarket card. Either get the card specified for the notebook(which might not exist) fr HP/guranteed to work with the dv9310or you will have to edit the bios to accept the new aftermarket wifi card.

In my 8710w is a 4965AG_ card, and this is what was on the specs. (RM300UT#ABA)

But elsewhere on the label it claims 4965AGN, so I don't know what to think. It has three antennae.

Apparently you're saying that this is a software radio, so it should have N capability.

It is a problematic card with the default Linux driver. I start transfer of a large file and it starts fine at 100KB/s (1Mb/s), but then very soon it slows to ~18KB/s and the transfer takes forever. Disabling power management doesn't help.

    btws.
3 antennas means better signal...and usually found on wireless routers, not wireless cards..
    and uses MIMO feature..CMIIW
