Deos anyone with a Celeron M version of the v2000 or dv1000 give me any idea of how long their battery lasts on a single charge?
I'm debating whether or not to make the jump to Centrino. I didn't really save up enough cash yet, but I'm wondering if I should bite the bullet and jump into some emergency (ie. parental loan) funding for a computer. My main concern is with the battery life as opposed to other functions. I'm coming from an iBook with a 6hr battery life, so I'm going to feel a bit cramped no matter what.

hmmm.. interest ing read... thanks!
I'm probably the type that's going to let the machine sit there in class while the professor busts out the socratic method on us though, and take notes intermittendly, so I'm not really sure how much speedstep will affect me, and I don't really have a great reference point with respect to the Pentium M battery life to compare it with (e.g. one hour less per charge.)
Does anyone have any real world tests?

Have you thought about getting the 12 cell battery? I know that with a Pentium M processor, you'll get 6-8 hours of battery life.
I think one reviewer of notebooks said the Celeron M would get better battery life than the Pentium M. -
12 cell Battery adds substantial weight to the laptop and will prevent it from fitting into any laptop sleeve.Keep that in mind when buying this battery.Keep it as a spare battery with 6 cell as your normal one.

for the reasons that lapboy gave, i"d tend to want to avoid a 12 cell battery - the design wouldn't fit into my backpack properly, and I carry my laptop at school all day.
The celeron M would definetely give a shorter batt. life than the Pentium M, but I'm just wondering if it would cover a 2 class (120 minute each) spread comfortably. -
if you had the 12 cell, I'd say it could easily handle 4 hours...but not with a 6 cell...even if you went with a P-M

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm going with the PentiumM, batt. life is quite important to me, and we don't have plugs for every seat in the university of Alberta yet.
I'd stick with the iBook, but everything in my faculty is very M$ orientated, so I would consider my 'switch' failed.
