2. Is the 12-cell battery physically bigger than the standard battery? I've seen pictures of what is said to be a v2000 with a 12-cell battery with the bottom sticking out. Then again, I've also heard people say that the battery is no bigger than the standard battery. Which is true?
Also--is the 12-cell battery heavier than the standard 6-cell? How much?
And finally, what kind of battery life can you expect to get from the 12-cell (and for that matter, how much life can you expect to get from the 6-cell)?
In summary, is the 12-cell battery worth getting?
Thanks for your help!

I have the HP DV1000 which is basically the same as the Compaq V2000.
I have the 12 cell battery for it.
The 12 cell battery does stick out the bottom of the notebook about .75", whereas the 6 cell is flush with the bottom of the notebook. I like the 12 cell because it puts a nice forward tilt to the notebook when putting it on a flat service and allows more air to get to the bottom vent. It also gives you a good safe place to grab and carry the notebook.
I would guess the 12 cell battery weighs a little less than twice the weight of the 6 cell battery but this has not been a problem for me.
The biggest advantage is of course the battery life. I get 7+ hours of battery life with WiFi on doing general surfing, word processing, and light gaming.
I have read that the 6 cell will give you around 3-4 hours of battery life.
I have the 1.7MHz Pentium Centrino Dothan chip in it with 512MB Ram and a 80G 4200 rpm HD.
Here is a picture of one with the 12 cell battery... http://www.shopping.hp.com/shopping/images/products/pb995a_popup.jpg
