Check AMD's forum too. It doesn't sound so scary now as it was a couple of months ago :)

Anyone try it with the dv8000z series yet? The ML32 I have isn't bad but I'm... tempted. If I knew for certain that the MT40 is the end-of-the-line for Socket 754 Turions I might go ahead and try it. If they'll do a Socket 754 Turion X2 I'll wait, but I doubt that'll happen, much less that HP will update their BIOS to support them.

BTW, ML44's are in stock at monarchcomputer.com, or were last I checked. Expensive though.

I do not think there ever going to be a Socket 745 Turion X2. You best bet is Turion MT-40 or MT-44( if ever gets released).

I am pretty certain it should work in dv8000z also. It worked in V2000z, nx6125, so I do not see any reason why it would not work in dv8000z.

I'm pretty certain it'll work too, but I'm concerned about how much work it'll be to tear apart the notebook to get to the CPU socket. From the service guide it looks like I'll have to do a near-total disassembly. Ugh.
