    Hi,
I believe someone here has tried or currently using Win XP 64-bit on v2000z. I've just wonder about how it is. Stability, driver, compatilbility, heat (heard that Athlon 64 run slightly hotter in 64-bit vs 32-bit mode, not sure if it's the same case as Turion), etc.
I finally get a replacement lappy from HP (took 2 months!). The new one has Turion in it and I am thinking of giving a 64-bit Windows a try but I wanna get some feeling here first.

That was me. I call x64 not ready for primetime. True, consumer-friendly 64-bit is coming with Vista. The support and drivers will be there for Vista 64. The drivers are just not there or impossible to find. The biggest problem was I could not a find display or wireless driver. I have since found the display driver. Click on the 'Motherboard with ATI Graphics' link on next page to get to the download page. The wireless driver is nowhere to be seen. I didn't even try out any applications, I couldn't stand the undimmable screen and got rid of x64. So, I am unsure of application compatibility. I suggest to give it a try with the updated display driver and post how it goes.

www.planetamd64.com is a good place to start searching for drivers. There are a few for v2000z in this forum, as well. As far as I rememeber the only driver which was missing was the bluetooth one but i think there was an Acer's driver which should work.

This is what I found on planet AMD 64

There should be a link to wireless adapter driver in that page.

From hardware perspective, how do you like the 64-bit? Any battery life / heat problem? I know it's kinda early to judge since the drivers are not mature but I've just wanna get some opinion.

I was not able to measure battery life, but I was able to notice slightly higher heat dissipation.
