I just got my v2000z and am doing some tweaking on it. There were people who mentioned successful oveclocking v2000z with clockgen for ICS951412. However, when I use clockgen ICS951412 on my v2000z, it reads at 204MHz and applies any clock rate fine (seemingly), but all other software report that the clock rate does not change. The new version of clockgen won't work with my v2000z when I choose ICS951412, and all other clock generator won't work either. So the problem might be HP has made changes to the motherboard of v2000z. CPUZ shows my v2000z motherboard is Quanta model 3093, BIOS version F.24. Can anyone with successful or unsuccessful stories with clockgen on v2000z tell me your motherboard info? Thanks.

I did use ICS951412 clock gen on my V2000z( check my review, it has the info) that was with bios F 11 or F 13 (Board same 3093) and confirmed with CPU-z and also confirmed by benches. I think I pushed my ML-37 to 2200 all with default voltages( and I rememeber that was max in CG), ofcourse I set my Memory to DDR333 speed as it was not capable of DDR440 speeds.

Wow, I'm wondering whether HP changed the board design or just changed some settings in BIOS to prevent people from programming the PLL. Did you try the latest BIOS F.23 and were you able to overclock with F.23 BIOS?

    BTW, I have 2 Samsung 512MB PC2700 in my v2000z and I am able to use A64tweaker to clock them to 1T 200MHz 2.5-3-3-7.

    Wow! That is impressive :D

Initially I had 2x256 Samsung DDR333 modules, but all I could go was something like 183. Never was able to reach stable 200 .

as per ClockGen, Most likely they might have changed something in bios. Anyways, I am using this laptop for work, so I stopped experimenting as it has lot important data. May be you could down load and flash old version( I have not tried it though). Ofcourse it is also possible they might have changed to some new clock generator.

I've Primed for a while to find out stable rmclock settings. It looks 4x 0.85v and 10x 1.125v can do the work. Now if someone can confirm that upgrading to the latest BIOS will disable clockgen, then I might dare to try older BIOS. However, before someone confirm this, I dare not try because there is a possibility that the clock generator might be changed and the motherboard won't boot with older BIOS. Don't know if the BIOS has a rescue recovery feature or not. Maybe I should take apart the notebook and take a look of the motherboard if I had the time.

There should be no problem with booting from the old BIOS because HP's site still shows Bios F.06. I presume they would not leave it there if they knew it will mess with some machines
    Nice undervolting btw.

That's reasonable so I went ahead. The good news is that my v2000z booted up with F.06 BIOS, the bad news is that clockgen still won't work. So I flashed back to F.24 and wait someone else or myself to find out what's the clock generator onboard.

Some later HPs with a Turion I have seen appears to use a Cypress CY28RS480. The register readout from Clockgen seems to match the datasheet. Sadly, this clock generator doesn't support programmable clocks. The best one can do with this is to turn off spread spectrum.

Confirmed. I changed the spread spectrum bit in the register and saw the slight frequency shift. Thanks for the info.

Good debugging guys. Thought it is unfortunate this new Clock Generator does not support programmable mode.

I was about to suggest SpeedFan software, generally it identifies the Clock Generator.

Anyways, now we know, it is different, so we can not OC with new V2000z.

Where can I find it`s datasheet ? I`m the author of laptopOclocker, so i may try to add support for it.
...uhh I saw the datasheet, it`s fixed at 200Mhz.
