I just bought a v2410us at circuitcity and saw that the v2565us is at circuitcity for the same price, is there much of a difference in terms of speed(1.8 ghz vs. 1.6ghz)? Will I notice the difference?the v2565 has a L2 cache of 512 kb where the v2410 has a L2 cache of 1mb does that really make a difference. Should I try to exchange my v2410? the v2565 is the same price. Thanks

the difference in the CPU is minimal. 1.8ghz 512 l2 cache will give you a better result in SuperPi where the raw power of the CPU matters. 1.6 ghz 1mb l2 cache will perform on par and in some applications with heavy&persistent CPU load it may do somewhat better because the 1mb cache will supply more data for the CPU. I've heard that the difference between 512 and 1mb cache is between 2-5%. You decide but keep in mind that some games for example scan for CPU speed when they check for compatibility. In this case 1.8ghz would be better obviously.

I bought the V2565 - I think it is replacing the V2410 - not sure if you will notice much of a difference - it also has the lightscribe dvd - not sure if that is worth much - if they let you exchange it, i would - if they give you a hard time - its no big deal - they are virtually the same except for those 2 /3 minor diffs

I'd recommend buying at HP.com where you can customize. The 5400RPM drive and 12 cell battery are nice upgrades. The also have the v2000 with the Pentium M on sale at Office Depot for $600 after rebate. You can customize at Office Depot as well.
