    Guys,

    1) I was wondering what the real difference is between the HP dv2000 and the Compaq dv3000. The same configured system: HP dv2000, $979 (after all rebates); Compaq dv3000, $829 (after rebates). That's $150 difference but the same hardware.

    2) The percieved difference between the Nvidia 6150 (currently offered) and the supposedly soon to be offered 7200. Yes I know the 6150 is integrated and the 7200 is dedicated, my question is in terms of performance. Is the 7200 worth waiting around for and likely paying another 100-150 for? I tried looking around for benchmarks but none seem to exist (desktop 6150 exists, but I don't necessarily trust them as reflective of the Go 6150).

    Thanks!

first off, it is is compaq V3000, not DV3000. In my case, the compaw was more expensive based on my choices and the DV2000 comes with a webcam. I am currently unaware of an option with the 7200 for AMD processors, only intel. The jump in price though is worth it if you play games but if you are strictly a Office and internet user that dables in games once in a while and watches DVDs, the 6150 is sufficient. And you are correct, never compare desktop and laptop graphics. Hope that helped!

    1) Sorry on mislabeling the parts but I'm glad you could figure out I meant v3000 instead of dv3000 :) I really don't see how you can ever price the compaq more than the HP, but I'll take your word for it.

    2) I know no one can likely do better than you did, but simply saying if you like games, discrete cards are better doesn't really help. How much better, are we saying 6150 can run doom3, low res, 30fps and the 7200 medium res at 40? Or do they both run everything low res, 30fps? I mean more concrete comparison between the two cards. Can anyone give a more concrete comparison between what, in real world games, the 7200 can do above and beyond the 6150?

    Thanks!

It will be hard to speculate since the HP d2000/V3000 are the first laptops out in the market to make use of these 2 graphics cards(7200, 6150). So, unless someone can compare these two, we have to rely on their desktop equivalents and generally it should give you a fairly rough idea on their performance.

Regarding the price difference, HP usually plays around with these quite often, last week eventhough the Compaq was a bit cheaper, the upgrades cost a bit more than the equivalent in the HP dv2000, so if you are looking for a specific configuration, I would suggest you config both similarly and see which is cheaper. Ofcourse the HP has the extra camera and if you neeed one then HP is the only way to go.

im pretty sure the dedicated is better, but the question is, is it worth the extra money. honestly if your not gaming type, dont bother. The 6150 should be well enough for daily use. but if you really wanting the best gpu power you can get out of the DV2000 and V3000 then i would sugguest ,when its available, getting the dedicated 7200 even for the extra $100-$150

Miner is right, it was an issue of upgrades costing more and i essentially maxed out the computer. One important thing i thought i should toss in: the 6150 is aero glass capable, so if you are doing just day to day tasks, want to uprage to 64 bit vista at some point and want aero glass to work, you are covered with the 6150.

How does the turion x2 compare with the duo 2.0 ghz?

I need a laptop and I was waiting for the dedicated graphic on the HP or compaq and the AMD is the one with the better graphic so far.

Performance should be similar at a given clock speed on 32-bit code. On 64-bit code, Intel doesn't play there.

There will be faster TX2's coming out. The TL-60 is the fastest on the list. They may have been reserved for other notebook lines, many of which will be announced this week at Computex, until production can catch up to demand.

Has anyone ordered or received either of these notebooks? I'm really interested in them, but I'd like to see a review first. Also, I looked at HP's shopping site and didn't see an option for a dedicated graphics card on the dv2000. Is this just because they haven't finished adding options to that site? Thanks!

Okay, I see now that a couple of people have them, and those pictures from the Korean site look amazing. Also, in case anyone else is wondering as I was, HP's press release last month very clearly stated that the dv2000 will have an option for dedicated graphics. It also looks fairly clear that the v3000 will not have that option.

I guess their website isn't updated or they don't have their suppliers perfectly lined up yet. Unless I'm missing something. Has anyone else been able to configure one on HP's site with dedicated graphics?

    Thanks.
