I've got the v5000z, and I'll assume they all have the scroll aread on the bottom /right. Sometimes the scroll quits. I put my finger to the side to scroll, and it doesn't scroll. It just acts like a normal touchpad. Anyone else run into this?

Did you try the settings of the touchpad. There you can configure the scroll areas, as well as left and right button areas.

Sorry about the off subject but I've been looking for some decent pictures of the V5000Z before I buy one. Could anyone post a large pic of the keyboard area? TIA
Also, how do you like it? would you buy another one?
Thanks for any feedback!!

I just received my v5000z today actually. I have never owned a laptop before and only used them on rare occasions and I must say I like the touchpad and keyboard very much.

Found it in another thread.
I am looking at that one too. -
That's one of my pics from this thread

I too have similar problems:
1. The scroll sporadically quits
2. while scrolling, if I hold my finger to pause for reading, the page keeps jumping up and down about half inch.
3. the initial scroll is too large then it evens up. So when I start scrolling, it scrolls a huge amount, and then slows down.
4. It is also sporadic in detecting taps, even if the same pressure is applied.
As usual, I have tried changing all the settings in the control panel, in the Synaptic software, and updating the drivers from HP's website.
Now I am going to uninstall the drivers, reboot and then let MS pick up the default drivers. If it works well, I will try updating the drivers again. If not, will call HP support.
Will update the post if I am successful. Meanwhile, if somebody else has these problems (and maybe solution), please post.
edit: I uninstalled the drivers for the touchpad and rebooted. MS picked up whatever default drivers it could find, which I think were the original shipped with the notebook. Now all the quirks are gone. With apprehension I installed the new drivers listed on HP's website. The touchpad still works fine. All the jumping around and missed taps are history. Whew, what a relief!
