    v6000 internet problems

    my girlfriends compaq presario v6000 can connect to a wireless network but when i plug in to the router with usb or eithernet the computer wont connect to the internet. and i try to repair it with the windows deal but it doesnt help. and also i tried to do i clean install of vista to fix the problem but it didnt help. anyone have any advise?

    Try uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, or you may have a bad ethernet card. You can replace it by buying a PC Card replacement.

    Edit: Also try testing the ethernet port on the router. Use a different port, or try connecting a computer that you know works.

    do you think that is possible the PC is brand new. i tried updating and reinstalling the drivers and stuff.

    There are laptops that arrive DOA. It's very possible that the laptop shipped with a defective network card. If it's new, then it's covered under the return policy. Have HP replace the laptop for you, and maybe give you some money off the laptop for the hassle.
