Was anyone able to install hp printer software on vista 32bit rtm? Any 'unofficial' way of doing it? I wonder how long before hp puts up vista printer software on their web site, I want to install my f380 already. :(

I run an HP 6840 and Vista RTM picked it up just fine. Have you tried the XP drivers? I know they worked for me under RC2. Can't hurt to try it.

Most likely, HP won't include new drivers for the retail version of Vista until its official release date on Jan 30 or thereabouts. Vista has already been released to business, so there must be some "official" drivers floating around somewhere.

I remember that my HP 5440 worked with Vista RC1 on my dv1000 without any drivers.

Not sure about RC2 or RTM, though.

Yeah the problem is the printer cd aborts installation right away when it detects that vista is 'not a supported operating system'. The software downloaded via hp.com does the same thing. I was wondering if there was any other way of installing printers.

EDIT: The thing is, I'm trying to do this with the official software. Are you guys saying if I plug in the usb cord vista should detect the printer and use generic vista drivers for it?

There's no guarantee that Vista will have have native drivers for the F380, but, hell, just plug it in and see what happens. Let Vista search for the drivers and make sure you're online so it can check back at the mothership for drivers added after the RTM. In any case, it appears that an SP1 will be forthcoming shortly after release, so you may get lucky there.

Yeah, I just plugged it in and Vista had the necessary drivers for my AIO. There might not be drivers available for every modelbut if you have one of the newer series then the default Vista drivers should work fine.
