    vista 64 hang for a while AFTER the loading screen!

    I need some help. recently, i have been noticing that it has been hanging with a black screen after the loading screen with no indication of harddrive activity.

    i have defragged the boot files as well as the hardrive but the same thing happens. i have a 7200 rpm hardrive that upgraded to. had it for as long as i had the laptop, so i dont think thats the problem. after the hang up, vista loads up fine. i am boot up with external harddrives, but i always have before the problem started. i dont get any errors.

    any help would be appreciated
