I bought my HP pavilion dv2000 in late august. i hadn't had any problems up until this past month. but now, almost daily, i have been experiencing a problem with the vista interface where suddenly everything on the taskbar begins to overlap and go out of place. slowly afterwards, i am unable to tab between the running applications until i must restart the computer.

is this a problem with vista or a problem with the laptop? what can i do to resolve the issue?

Well, if its vista you may have to reinstall. But I would use an older restore point first. See if windows has a restore point at a time before this started happening. If it was something you did its probably too long ago for you to remember. I would go with the system restore first.
