    hey,

i installed vista rc1 but i am having some issues:

like... how do i get the support for the geforce go 6150 or w/e graphic card this thing has? i tried to get teh x64 vista driver from nvidia but it would not install... it said there is nothing that supported my hardware or something...

another odd thing is the lack of a file menu... is that just vista? i mean it's annoying not having menus in anything...

so if anyone has any suggestions i would appreciate the help

hey that site worked. i used the newest driver modded inf file (found on forums) and now in vista my card is recognized.

I have 2GB ram and my go 6150 card supports the Aero Interface. I don't seem to have any issues, but i'm sure a better card would produce better results... but i am able to use it. i get all the "wonderful" transparencies shadows... and yeah. the operating system itself seems to be mostly stable, and there were only a few drivers that couldn't be found - (same ones as if u were to install xp from scratch it seems) but they don't hinder the system.. i know one of them is the quickplay button driver. as only the mute botton works, and it doesn't turn orange on vista o_O

the 64bit ver is nice, and i haven't ran into any problems running 32bit applications.

as for file menus... well ie7 had a way to turn it on... then on some things im getting used to not having it...

lastly, vista is a memory hog... when i only have firefox beta 2 and ie 7 64bit and gaim, i am using 38% of 2GB of ram.. that's a lot. i haven't tried batterly life yet, but sine the xp life sucked i doubt vista will make it any better...

    any way thanks miner

Good to knwo that Aero works with 64bit. I have tried the 32bit and everything works well. But, yeah Vista definately needs lots of RAM. I would think 2GB should be ideal. I tried it with 256MB and it was a tortoise. I wouldnt recommend anyone to try Vista without atleast 1GB RAM.

Yeah, i'm quite impressed on how well it is able to run 32bit XP programs... i almost want to just use vista, but when i am on battery i need to use XP or say good bye to batteries i bet.

Yeah.. w/o 1GB RAM... good luck
