-
down at the bottom of the page has wave 0 by it just installed it
-
"RC" = Release Candidate.
-
-
well the release versions are time limited and this one isnt time limited
and heres what was found on bink.nu Microsoft will be deploying Service Pack 1 in two "waves". Wave 0, which is the one released on February 4, will only include five languages - English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese. The second wave, Wave 1, is scheduled for release 1-2 weeks later, and will cover all 36 basic languages, including Chinese. -
So...is this official? Not that I couldn't just wait another day.
-
well if it on microsoft and says wave 0 yes ive had the release version on my desktop and there a display in the bottom that says evaluation version this dont at all must be a slip by ms when they put it there i read 4 places that wave 0 is the final version and the read me file states vista service pack 1
-
It is an RC. So isn't it too soon to put it on your Notebook?
-
im not sure if it's officail because vista update won't find any new updates. Also when we install the update will we have to format are HDD?
-
rc version is on my desktop and states eveluation version time limited and the version number is listed there this version wave 0 is the final or it would have the version on the desktop like i sayed believe what you want see for your self tommorrow then and then say im wrong it will say wave 0
-
No you won't have to format. It is kind of an add on that you can just install on your present install.
-
ok heres the proof • Windows Vista SP1 RC is time-limited software.
Windows Vista SP1 RC will no longer operate after June 30, 2008 and should be uninstalled prior to that date. After installation your desktop will show the text “Evaluation Copy”. This does not mean that your system is no longer genuine but that you have installed a test version of software which is time-limited. The “Evaluation Copy” text will appear on your desktop after the second reboot after installing the service pack. Likewise, the “Evaluation Copy” text will remain on your desktop during the first reboot after uninstall the service pack, but will disappear after the next reboot. -
its been out for a while now
EDIT: no, sorry, thats the beta version im talking about -
I already downloaded it. Just waiting for a confirmation that it's the real deal.
-
The link stopped working. Maybe Microsoft took it down?
-
Even if it is the "real deal" I would wait on installing it, especially if you don't have all your data backed up. I still remember after XP SP2 came out, talk about crashes everywhere, I had to reinstall my OS. Anyways, on Service Packs and Big updates I always wait a month or so to hear about errors and failures before I trust it on my own system.
Just my own little rule I thought I'd share with everyone. -
I downloaded it already, just waiting to see if it's got a lot of bugs. If anyone wants it, I can host it on rapidshare. It'll take a while, PM me if you want it.
-
well its feb 4, 08 and still nothing.
-
It just went to RTM today. I think that the hack I posted in the Windows section might allow people to download the RTM. I will check the version number (the hack was for build 18000) tomorrow from Server 2008.

can somebody post me a link for where i can download the official final verison?
-
CNET and a bunch of other sites say Feb 15, 2008.
I wouldn't bother until the 15th. You don't know what you're getting.
MS must have pulled the link for some reason. -
Well I downloaded it already, so if anyone wants it PM me.
I installed it from the MS website yesterday when it was up and it said it was WAVE 0.
Know what your getting into, if you still want it let me know.
