    can someone help me my friend got a compaq laptop from someone who probably got it from someone who knows !! but anyways it originally came with windows vista on it but somebody uninstalled it and put win xp pro on it and set up a power on and a admin password. we have tried to get passwords but the people say they dont remember it i can start xp by pressing f11 but since vista was downgraged to xp the sound and the audio drivers have been erased and i can not reconfigure them.. can anybody help me get vista back on or something to get the passwords off and get the audio working

    Get a Anytime Upgrade disc and use the key from the bottom of the machine. I take it they didn't burn the recovery discs?

    Side note, we don't ask how to get around passwords here. If you want to get that info you'll have to get it somewhere else.

    ok im sorry about asking to get around the passwords i just didnt know if the upgrade disk would do what i needed it to do with that becauseive tried everything and no they did not send any backup disks or paperwork for the pc
