it does not give you vista ultimate it only gives you a complete install not an upgrade of what ever version of upgrade you have

despite this appearing very dodgy, microsoft themselves have admitted that they will not penalise anyone for doing it, and as the workaround has been greatly publicised on cnet, zdnet and other PC news groups i am surprised by your comment.

i, at least, would have thought that such a matter would warrant a healthy discussion.

the fact that you are supplied with the program pre-installed on the DVD would, in my opinion, give you bona fide right to use it!

if you are able to do this i can not see how you would be in breach. you are not fraudulently copying vista ultimate, you are simply using what you have been given!

jim6172 is correct. This IN NOW WAY gets you a a valid copy of Vista Ultimate (unless you purchased Ultimate Upgrade). It is just a workaround to allow you to install whatever version of Vista you purchased without having an existing copy of Windows on the hard drive.

That work around requires you to use YOUR key on the second install...so no you cannot get what you didn't pay for.
