First, uninstall the Motorola software. It's not Vists compatible, and you shouldn't need it.

Then, download the HP Bluetooth package, either from their website, or from the direct link in the stickied Vista drivers thread. Installing that package should provide the driver you need to avoid the annoying prompts.

Well I installed the phone itself in the blue-tooth devices box, and now its not asking me for a driver anymore yea! BUT I cant transfer any files or ring tones via blue-tooth :( so what I need is a blue-tooth driver from Motorola that is vista compatible. But I must say I LOVE THIS LAPTOP and VISTA!

anyone know where I can get that driver for a SLVR l7???

    Thanks all Tryton

You shouldn't need a phone specific driver. Once I installed the drivers provided by HP, my Motorolla phone connects flawlessly with Vista... to use as a modem and to transfer files back and forth.

The HP Bluetooth driver isn't really a "Bluetooth" driver, it's an additional software package of protocols and such that work with Bluetooth. It's hard to explain, but it should work.

Edit: Specifically, it should install profiles for "standard modem over bluetooth" to use your phone for internet access, and an enhanced "OBEX push profile" to transfer data between the devices.

No problem. Glad it worked for you. I don't know why Microsoft left out the needed profiles from their Vista driver package, but it's causing a lot of people headaches as they try to figure out why they need another "driver" for something that Windows already installed a driver for. At least HP released a software pack. Not everyone has bothered.

Funny, it connected with my RAZR without any issue. I just ordered my wife a SLVR and expect it tomorrow... I hope I don't run into the same issues you were having.

Well, i just got the SLVR today, and I tried to load it through the Bluetooth module, without success. I tried all the GSM L7 offerings to no avail. I had it listed as a profile name "SLVR". Well, after several unsuccessful attempts I tried to run it hard wired, and guess what? It didn't connect!!! So I realized, I keep trying to recognize it through the same profile name, without deleting the profile name each time. I went ahead and deleted the profile altogether. Then I reinstalled the profile name and it connected with the cable (not the first L7 driver I selected previously, but the second of the GSM L7 selections, and it connected. So I went ahead and deleted the profile, and restarted it from scratch using the driver on the list that functioned with the wired connection, but I connected via Bluetooth. And Viola'! It connected.

So if it doesn't function when you establish the first profile from a list of drivers, completely delete the profile you chose and try each new driver from the list with a brand new profile, don't try to recycle a failed connection profile.

I transfered a few pictures and did some other tweeking, and it works great with the bluetooth!
