    Hello,
I have an HP DV9700 notbook and water got spilled on the keyboard. I turned the notebook off immediately and unplugged it. Then let it dry for a day. The next day I turned it on and now when I press some keys the wrong thing happens such as when I press backspace Internet Explorer will switch to full screen or when I press the spacebar it will do a space and put a period in the spelling. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?
    Everything else works fine.
    Thank you in advance
    John

Do Not power the unit any more.
Do Not point a hair drier at it.

    Leave the lid open
    Remove all access doors
    Remove the RAM
    Remove the Battery
    Remove the Hard Drive
Remove the keyboard if you know how
Point a running fan at the unit
Let it dry for 3 days (yes, no kidding, 3 days !!)
( This is the standard manufacturers recommendation for Cell Phones, Wireless Phones, MP3 players, Computers etc… )

During those 3 days pray, because it's very likely that if the unit was powered when the spill occured it has been damaged or that you failed to wait long enough for the unit to dry. It doesn't take much...

Sorry for the bad news but if you're very luck... perhaps ??

Pray that your computer isn't messed up. If after letting the computer throughly dry out as the Old Major said above, the keyboard still doesn't work, then you could try replacing the keyboard.

Locate and disconnect the Bios/cmos battery as well until it is dry.
This low voltage & moisture can promote corrosion
