I have gone two full days without having any webcam problems by removing Windows Live Messenger from my startup. It looks like that was the program causing the webcam to not be found with other programs. I don't know if it the combination of Windows live messenger and Yahoo Messenger or Windows Live Messenger alone, but my cam now has worked hundreds of times with malfunctioning.

    John, a couple of questions:

    1. What application haveyou got the web cam to work with ?

    2. When you had messenger installed how did the web cam appear in the Device Manager, was it listed correctly as an Imaging Device or as an Unknown USB Device or something else ?

Glad to hear you have got it working, strange though.

    Ratty,
I never had the same problem you had. I always had the imaging device listed as a webcam in the device manager. When I started some applications, I would get an error that said I had no webcam installed even though it showed up in the device manager properly.

The webcam works with Yahoo Messenger, Quickplay, Muvee auto producer, and Windows Live Messenger, although Windows Live Messenger seems to screw the webcam up when its running.
