OK, this is just driving me insane! I have a ZE4430US with a Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R2312 and the Conexant AC-Audio.

The problem is that my CD audio is all scratchy (sometimes). I don't think it was always like this but, now...

    DVD audio is fine
System sounds, wavs, mp3s, etc all are fine
CD audio is fine if played in Winamp before version 3
and CD's rip perfectly to Mp3, AAC, etc

BUT, if I try and play a CD audio with iTunes, WinAmp 5, WMP or just about any other media player, it sounds all scratchy and poppy like an old vinyl (really MUCH worse than that but thats the sound it reminds me of).

I've updated drivers, peeked around system settings and looked all over the net and have come up emtpy.

    Help!

Holy Moses I found the solution!

    Apparently, my DMA was reset!

I found this site, that had a little VBS script to reset it and my CD audio is now perferct again!
