OK....first i would like to say hello....now for my problem....I have a HP dv9000 notebook running winxp.....Just bought a gateway 24" HD LCD monitor....Am using a external keyboard....Now for the good part...mmm...or bad.....Hooked up new external monitor via HDMI cable....all is well....BUT....I cant toggle between screens cause of the HDMI cable ,using FN F4.....I Have to go with VGA connector...so there for i have no longer HD on my external monitor....now....there is more....Using the external keyboard....I can not use the ctrl alt keys as my fn key...because....the keyboard is a usb connection...and that screws that idea...anyone know of any other way to hook up a external keyboard by not using a usb port on the DV9000?.....if this is all true...then my best and only solution for this external monitor to even work is to stick with no HD and use my notebook key pad...Or if there is a way to lock my external monitor to boot up with computer and bypass the notebook screen all together....with out having to toggle each time i boot up....that would solve my keyboard problem and my HD problem....sounds easy...mmmm...any one out there that could help would be great....i have looked all over to try and solve this simple problem...no luck

I have no idea why fn+f4 doesn't work with an HDMI. Unless you really want or need the higher definition video, I really don't see why there would be a problem with the VGA connector.
As for the keyboard issue... My only suggestion is *maybe* the HP quickDock or xb3000 expansion base. They feature PS/2 ports for the keyboard AFAIK. -
what a mess!
