Im trying to find what plastic is the lid made of? Why i ask is i have 2 old laptops Compaq 1675 and a Compaq 700us that needs the lid repaired at the hinge area and i bought a plastic welder at harbor freight and when i try to weld the cracks pretty much the provided welding strips just wont stick... You can scrape them right off after its fully cured...

On the box it says the strips are for tpo teo and pp materials, Maybe that.s why? I was thinking the plastic of the laptops are abs or pc-abs but im not 100% sure...

It just seems like the plastic is just ageing and not because of the hinges because they seem fine not to tight and not to loose.

These laptops are for old school gaming the 1675 dos/98 and the 700us for 98/xp games that need a little more power than the 1675.

Hot glue seems to do a trick for awhile but yea hot glue gives out over time..
