i am trying to understand the guide explaning how to install xp on the new HP laptops, but i don't understand the word slipstream.
can anyone explain me what does it mean?

Slipstream, as adapted to use in software, is the practice of taking one or more incremental fixpacks (or driver updates, etc) and merging them into the original package to obtain a combined, updated package.

in this case it means that you combine the XP with the drivers (for the HD, and so on) with the SP2 (it is optional).

Not particularly, if one knows the construction of the package. It usually is just based on date/time stamps of the modules/components and their locations.
There's a tool for Windows called nLite that gets nods from many folks for ease of use. -
