1. hp connection manager is the superior updated version of hp wireless assistant that doesn't crash and use up 25-50% of your cpu when that happens.

2. it lets you turn your bluetooth radio on and off if you use that. Otherwise you cannot turn bluetooth on/off separately from the wireless radio. You can't turn bluetooth off separately period with the keyboard shortcut key, but at least it will turn off with the wireless when you turn the wireless radio off.

You should have it installed since it contains the proper drivers, the integrated microphone array drivers, and the hdmi audio-drivers get wonky if you don't have it installed (doesn't switch on/off properly...well sometimes it doesn't do that anyway. You have to go and set the defaults up properly with the idt connection manager)

1. Because. It's part of the chipset drivers and/or cpu drivers for your computer. You need those drivers to take full advantage of the hardware. I don't know what it does but you really shouldn't be uninstalling drivers just because.

2. Well, unless things have changed the bluetooth radio defaults to on on a new install of the envy 14. Because of that it will drain a a tad bit more power than if you turned it off (and then if you really don't want the hp connection manager..you can uninstall that program after turning the bluetooth radio off)

once the radio is turned off it stays off, even through reformatting the computer.

3. Well. the IDT stuff is again, the proper drivers and software for the audio chip. There are compatible ones built into windows but you won't be able to control EQ settings or easily set the default speakers if/when issues arise.

You probably can set default speakers through windows settings anyway though.

Still, there's no actual reason to not install this specific software. It uses 7.34 MB of ram and no cpu when idle. When you open it up a separate process starts that uses 20mb of ram (only while you're messing with settings).

 

1. really? how can i now if my bluetooth is on? i mean, i have disabled it in device manager.

2. actually, i got idt audio process automaticly when starting pc, thats why i uninstalled it. dont want extra processes...
