just a question for all you other HP owners out there, what kind of mother boards are HP putting in their notebooks?? I have worked on a few, mainly dv series notebooks and I have seen a few winstrons and abits, but I have also seen a few dead ones with melted boards that are being repaired under the "one time service enhancement". What I would like to know is, is this just a problem with a specific type of board (i.e BIOS is not running the fan right like HP says in their BIOS update) or is it an endemic problem with the actual design of the notebooks (I.E the heatsinks/thermodynamics/thermal compound). The way I checked the ones I was working on was just by downloading CPUz onto the system and checking the mainboard tab. I was just wondering because I have seen a number of posts on the one time service enhancement and have seen a few myself.

As with every other laptop, they use customized motherboards designed specifically for that notebook. So you'll have to find the ODM for the HP notebook in question to get the source.

I my old ZV5000z had a compal motherboard, I don't know what motherboard my dv2000z have. They might have different manufacturers for the AMD and Intel models.
