i'm not the person to ask about laptop screens, as i recently bought my first laptop.. but the popular opinion seems to be that the screens on the hp dv models arent very bright and viewing angles not very good. im satisfied with the screen on my dv7, although i mainly use an external monitor now.

I like mine. It has a bit of backlight bleed at the bottom, but it doesn't bother me at all. The viewing angle is decent, and as long as you adjust the contrast a bit, the colors are vivid and bright.

My 1280x800 screen is made by Samsung, although I think you might also get an AOC, which is still good.
